Matt Bloomfield has named Kal Naismith as the Hatters captain for the forthcoming season.
The 33-year-old defender re-joined the club this summer and has captained the Town throughout pre-season.
Bloomfield told lutontown.co.uk: “In terms of voice, in terms of leadership, know-how, and when he talks to the lads, it’s absolutely the right choice and I’m really pleased to give Kal the armband.
“He’s a leader, and he’s someone the rest of the boys and our supporters think a lot of.
“Kal is someone who has real desire and brings real leadership qualities – and a big voice… whenever he’s around, you can hear him – and I think all of these qualities will be borne out in our team soon.”
“It’s incredible to be made captain of this club,” Naismith said. “Everybody knows how special this club is to me. It’s more than just a club where I’m employed to play football; it’s the relationship I have with every single person here and our supporters.
“It means the world to me, and it’s a responsibility that I will take incredibly seriously. I’ll be making sure I put every single person attached to this club before myself.
“A special thank you to the manager, who I am grateful to for giving me the honour. A massive thanks to him for putting his trust in me.
“We have a great dressing room and it is an honour for me to lead and have the respect of so many unbelievable people. I will have their back and they will have mine.
“I will be very proud to be captain of this great club during what we hope will be a special season.”
