The Town Ladies need just one more victory to be crowded ERWFL Premier Division champions after defeating Bowers & Pitsea 3-0 on Sunday.
After results elsewhere, the Hatters not only extended their lead at the top of the table to four points but a win against St Albans on Tuesday will see them win promotion.
After last Sunday’s defeat to Stevenage, the Town would have dreamed of an earl goal and that’s exactly what they got when Tsaianne Leander was fouled in the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Tasha Fensome stood up and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, giving the Hatters a lead on 10 minutes.
After laying on three assists last time out at Barton, Fensome nearly created another. Her ball into the box from the left-hand side of the area was knocked goalwards by Shanice Lewis but her effort was kept out by the Bowers keeper.
Five minutes into the second-half, Jess McKay doubled Luton’s lead. The ball fell kindly to Luton’s number 10 just inside the area and her first time effort was curled past the keeper.
With 15 minutes left to play and fresh off the bench, Ami Martins picked up the ball on the right-hand side and her deep delivery into the area was hit narrowly over the crossbar on the half-volley by Fensome.
Just before the full-time whistle Martins added a third for Luton. She did exceptionally well to control a bouncing ball and fired it past the replacement keeper to wrap up a dominant performance from the Town.
The title and promotion can be confirmed on Tuesday when they head to Clarence Park.
