A thunderous low drive from Nahki Wells helped secure a point for the Hatters in as they came from two goals down to earn a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Lincoln City at Kenilworth Road.
It was a disastrous start for the Town as goals from Freddie Draper and Rob Street helped the in-form away side to a healthy advantage midway through the first half before strikes from Gideon Kodua and Wells levelled matters going into half-time.
Lincoln scored the opening goal in the 10th minute as a cross from the left side of the box found an unmarked Draper at the back post to nod in from close range.
It went from bad to worse in the 21st minute as a free-kick on the right hand side was headed down in the Hatters box for Street to get a toe on and convert, doubling the away sides advantage and leaving an uphill struggle for the boys in orange.
With just 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Town managed to scrape a goal back and it was in-form Kodua who managed to convert with a smart header at the back post after he was found by a corner from Liam Walsh. It was the attacker’s 10th goal of the season and seventh in his last 13 appearances.
With a change in atmosphere and an encouraging sign of intent, it was the Town who looked more threatening as the first half drew to a close, and they were rewarded for their efforts. Kal Naismith picked up the ball and drove into the opposition midfield before finding Wells who turned and stuck a thunderous finish into the bottom corner to restore parity in an entertaining half.
In a scrappy second half, chances came at a premium with the best opportunities presenting themselves from set pieces.
The Hatters thought they'd found a late winner from another corner as Mads Andersen was found at the back post but his header into the roof of the net was chalked off when the officials judged there to be a foul on Imps goalkeeper George Wickens.
Town suffered slightly towards the end of the second half as Lincoln threatened with several late efforts as they piled on the pressure.
Josh Keeley produced a magnificent save to deny Ryley Towler’s header and the steely defence remained resolute to see out a point and ensure the Hatters remain unbeaten at home over the last eight games, a run spanning back to October in Jack's first game as Town boss.
