Manager Matt Bloomfield spoke to the local press this afternoon ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One.

In his press conference, which you can watch below, the Town boss gave an update on the injury situation regarding Reuell Walters, Teden Mengi and Tahith Chong, who have all been back in training but won't be available for the trip to Staffordshire, with defender Mads Andersen also still “doubtful” with a tight hamstring.

“They are starting to filter back,” said Bloomfield. “I don’t think there is anyone we can welcome back to the squad who hasn’t been available, but there are players who are working extremely hard to try to get back as soon as possible.”

On Mark McGuinness’ improving fitness and form, after playing full matches at Coventry and Bradford, and then in the home fixtures against Wigan and Cardiff, he added: “Because of Christ’s suspension and other situations, including Mads’ injury, Mark had to go from playing no pre-season football, apart from 45 minutes at Boreham Wood, to getting thrown into 90 minutes four times in ten days.

“You have to feel for him, but he is building himself up. We know he’s a top performer and we are really happy to have him back. I believe there is a lot more to come from Mark.”

With the Hatters looking to bounce back from a second defeat of the campaign when we go in search of a fourth win in our six matches so far at Burton, the manager said: “There is no need for us to add anything to our situation.

“We just need to keep clear minds, go and perform and be the best we can possibly be, and just keep calm in the situation.

“There are going to be times when we are really flying this season. There are going to be times when we have a punch on the nose, like we did on Saturday.

“We need to stay calm and we need to go about our work and be absolutely motivated to put our best performance out there on Saturday afternoon.”
